5 dead in South Carolina incident

Five people were killed over the July 4th holiday weekend when their plane crashed in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, officials say.

Three adults, including the pilot, and two minors, ages 7 and 17, all died when the plane crashed Sunday, a Horry County coroner told The Myrtle Beach Sun News.

The group’s single-engine plane crashed under unknown circumstances after taking off from a local runway, according to a report released by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Four people died at the scene, the FAA said. The fifth person died a hospital, The Myrtle Beach Sun News reported.
